Trump: ‘1.8 Million Deceased Individuals’ Will Vote ‘For Somebody Else’ in November (Video)

‘Voter Fraud Is Rare. Trump Talking About It Is Not’

Donald Trump Monday evening falsely claimed “1.8 million deceased individuals” will vote for “somebody else” in November. The Republican presidential nominee, clearly setting the stage for an impending loss that could be large, has in recent days taken to lying about voter fraud, but Monday’s claims were the most extreme yet.

What Trump was referring to is a 2012 Pew study that finds state voter rolls have not been properly maintained, and there could be 1.8 million deceased citizens still listed as eligible to vote. That’s not evidence of voter fraud, it’s evidence of either poor management or insufficient resources, or both. Talking Points Memo notes “the study found no evidence of fraud or illegitimate ballots actually being cast, instead concluding that state voter databases were outdated.”

But Donald Trump once again chose to lie and incite fear and anger among his supporters.

The amount of voter fraud is negligible, causing PolitiFact to rate Trump’s claims on Monday morning not just false but Pants on Fire false.

“Of course, there is large scale voter fraud happening on and before election day,” the GOP nominee tweeted.

“Voter fraud is rare. Trump talking about it is not,” PolitiFact, after extensive review, charges, calling his allegations “baseless.”
