#RepealThe19th: Trump’s Deplorables Launch Twitter Campaign Wanting to Revoke Women’s Right to Vote

‘If Only Women Voted’

If only women were allowed to vote, Hillary Clinton would win in a landslide, with more than twice the number of electoral college votes needed to take the White House. So Nate Silver revealed in a tweet detailing a FiveThirtyEight article Tuesday evening:

Liked over 14,000 times and retweeted over 15,000 times, that tweet and the story led to other tweets:

And to the sign of a meme perhaps overdone:

All fun aside, though, the point of the story, as Silver wrote, is that “it seems fair to say that, if Trump loses the election, it will be because women voted against him.”

Enter Donald Trump’s deplorables.

96 years after women finally gained the right to vote – a process that began in 1878 and did not end until 1920 – Trump’s “patriots” who love America so much they believe their lives and the lives of their families depend on a racist, misogynistic, homophobic, anti-immigrant, anti-science, birther, conspiracy-loving liar to “save them,” want to now repeal women’s right to vote.

Up has sprung the hashtag #RepealThe19th, as in, repeal the 19th amendment, which granted disenfranchised women the right to vote.

No, don’t check your calendars, it’s still 2016.

Response to the desire to disenfranchise more than half the nation was quick:

At one point, LGBT activist and writer Jeremy Hooper posted this to Twitter:

And got this in response:

Figures.
