WATCH: Trump Promises Evangelicals ‘Our Christian Heritage Will Be Cherished, Defended, Protected’
Trump Speaks to Anti-Gay Hate Group
Addressing evangelicals at the Values Voter Summit Friday afternoon, Donald Trump made the conservative Christians a strong and chilling promise: the eradication of First Amendment freedoms including separation of church and state.
“Our Christian heritage will be cherished, defended, protected like you’ve never seen before,” if they elect him president, Trump promised.Â
The Republican presidential nominee vowed to repeal the Johnson Amendment, a 1954 law that bans some non-profits, including churches and other religious organizations, from advocating for or against a political candidate. It does not ban them from supporting political positions, including abortion and same-sex marriage.
