WATCH: Pat McCrory Releases Ad Implying Trans Kids Endanger ‘Our Children’s Privacy and Safety’

‘The Truth’ – Really?

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory has just released a new campaign ad attacking transgender children and the people who support them. Called “Common Sense,” the video shows McCrory, who signed into law the anti-LGBT bill HB2, calling transgender girls “boys,” and suggesting they are a threat to “our children’s privacy and safety.”

The video, which for some reason has the words “The Truth” overlaid as McCrory begins his attack – literally as he said the word “boys” – begins with McCrory claiming to have, among other created jobs. The Republican governor totally ignores the hundreds of millions of dollars and thousands of jobs his state has lost as a direct result of HB2.

“You know, when we were raising the average teacher pay, creating new jobs and cutting taxes, other folks were actually pushing to make our schools allow boys, to use the girl’s locker rooms and showers,” McCrory, who recently called HB2 “irrelevant,” says. “Are we really talking about this? Does the desire to be politically correct outweigh our children’s privacy and safety? Not on my watch. Our kids and teachers are my priority. This is North Carolina. Let’s do what’s right.”

The first-term governor is running for re-election but is currently losing in the polls to North Carolina’s Attorney General, Democrat Roy Cooper. The RealClearPolitics average shows Cooper up 3.6 points over McCrory.
