Tumblr User Says He Planted Chelsea Bomb In Protest Of Anti-LGBT Discrimination

Authorities Investigating Social Media Account As Possible Manifesto

A Tumblr user claimed responsibility Sunday for the explosion that injured 29 people in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood on Saturday night.

The Tumblr page has been removed, but according to The New York Daily News, the user wrote that he was a gay man and the bombing was meant to protest society’s treatment of LGBT people.

“You probably have all seen the news by now, the explosives detonated in New York City, that was me,” the Tumblr user wrote. “I did it because I cannot stand society. I cannot live in a world where homosexuals like myself as well as the rest of the LGBTQ+ community are looked down upon by society.”

Authorities reportedly are investigating the possibility that the Tumblr page was the Chelsea bomber’s manifesto.

The New York Post reports that authorities are also investigating a 911 call received shortly after the explosion.

“I’m looking at the explosion down the block. There will be more,” the unidentified male caller reportedly said, claiming to be standing near the scene of the incident.
