Before Attacking Clinton for Taking Money from Saudis, Trump Sold Them An Entire Floor of His Tower
GOP Nominee Sold 45th Floor of Trump World Tower to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for $4.5M in 2001
Â
In yet another stunning example of Donald Trump’s hypocrisy, the GOP presidential nominee recently blasted Democrat Hillary Clinton for accepting money from Saudi Arabia for her foundation — even though he sold the country an entire floor of his Trump World Tower in 2001.Â
On June 13, Trump wrote on Facebook (above): “Crooked Hillary says we must call on Saudi Arabia and other countries to stop funding hate. I am calling on her to immediately return the $25 million plus she got from them for the Clinton Foundation!â€
And last month, Trump surrogate Rudy Giluiani said on Fox News Sunday: “I’d like to see her apologize for all the money that the Clinton Foundation has been taking, let’s say from Saudi Arabia, where women are not allowed to drive. You tell me she’s a feminist and she takes money from a country where women are not allowed to drive?â€Â
However, The New York Daily News reports that in 2001, Trump sold the 45th floor of Trump World Tower to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for $4.5 million. Seven years later, the 10 apartments became part of the Saudi Mission to the United Nations.Â
Chris Talbot, a Democratic consultant not working with the Clinton campaign, told the Daily News that Trump’s sale of the apartments to Saudi Arabia “underscores the need for him to release more financial information.”Â
“We just don’t know very much about his dealings, and that’s concerning from a voter’s perspective,” Talbot said.Â
