A day after appearing at a conference hosted by an anti-LGBT hate group, GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump will speak Saturday afternoon at the funeral of radical right-wing matriarch Phyllis Schlafly.Â
The event was not on Trump’s campaign schedule as of Friday afternoon, but the president of Schlafly’s Eagle Forum confirmed the GOP nominee will speak, according to The St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. local time at Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis.Â
Trump again praised Schlafly, who died Monday, during his speech Saturday at the Values Voters Summit, hosted by the Family Research Council. Â

“Phyllis fought very hard to the very end for a free and prosperous America,” Trump said. “She understood that to be truly united as a country, we can’t simply turn to government or politicians.
“Phyllis endorsed me at a time when it was not necessarily the thing to do, even the popular thing to do, and I will never forget that that had a great, great impact,” Trump added. “I look forward to being with her family tomorrow.”
Following Schlafly’s death, Trump said: “Phyllis Schlafly is a conservative icon who led millions to action, reshaped the conservative movement, and fearlessly battled globalism and the ‘kingmakers’ on behalf of America’s workers and families. I was honored to spend time with her during this campaign as she waged one more great battle for national sovereignty.”
