Trump Calls on Clinton to Drop Out of Race if She Does Not Apologize for ‘Deplorables’ Comment

Claims Democrat Calling Out Racists, Sexists, Homopobes, ‘Disqualifies Her From Public Service’

Donald Trump Monday afternoon called on Hillary Clinton to pull out of the presidential race if she would not apologize for and retract comments she made calling half of his supporters “deplorables.”Â

The GOP nominee told an audience at theÂ National Guard Association that Clinton’s “disdain” for his supporters “disqualifies her from public service,” That disdain Trump pointed to consisted of her calling out those who are “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic â€“ you name it.”

Trump said his supporters are “cops, soldiers, carpenters, welders, the young and the old and millions of working class families who just want a better future and a good job,” Talking Points Memo reports Trump said, as heÂ ignored the fact that so are Clinton’s supporters.

“These were the people Hillary Clinton so viciously demonized. These were among the countless Americans Hillary Clinton called ‘deplorable,’ ‘irredeemable,’ and ‘un-American.'”

â€œShe called these patriotic men and women every vile name in the book. She called [them] racist, sexist, xenophobic, islamophobic,â€ Trump said, without ever denying it.

â€œYou cannot run for president if you have such contempt in your heart for the American voter, and she does,â€ Trump insisted. â€œYou can’t lead this nation if you have such a low opinion for its citizens.â€

“If Hillary Clinton will not retract her comments in full, I don’t see how she can credibly campaign any further,” he added.

Trump also claimed Clinton “hasn’t backed down at all,” wholly ignoring her statement hours after she made her comments Friday night that she regrets using the word “half.”
