Russian World Chess Champ Garry Kasparov Blasts Mike Pence’s Praise of Putin
‘Delete Your Campaign’
Garry Kasparov is blasting Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence after the Indiana governor, like his boss Donald Trump, praised Russian President Vladimir Putin. Taking to Twitter, Kasparov, who is known as the greatest chess player in the world, Thursday evening told Pence that Putin should be compared to “arsenic,” and, “Your country should be ashamed of you.”
Governor Pence, Vladimir Putin is a strong leader in the same way arsenic is a strong drink. Your country should be ashamed of you.

Pence on Thursday defended Trump’s praise of Putin during Wednesday night’s “Commander in Chief Forum.”
“The man has very strong control over a country,” Trump told NBC’s Matt Lauer, saying Putin has “been a leader, far more than our president has been a leader.”

Pence told CNN Thursday, “I think it’s inarguable that Vladimir Putin has been a stronger leader in his country than Barack Obama has been in this country. And that’s going to change the day that Donald Trump becomes president.”
In July Kasparov penned a Washington Post op-ed titled, “Donald Trump reminds me of Vladimir Putin — and that is terrifying.”
Kasparov, who is the Chairman of the Human Rights Foundation, shared a few more thoughts on Twitter:

Kasparov was pointing to this tweet from Pence:
Ronald Reagan & @realDonaldTrump are different men w/ different styles, but are fundamentally similar in their honesty, toughness & optimism

Kasparov also posted this:
US media is unfamiliar with a candidate as vile & mendacious as Trump. So they try to make him normal, comprehensible. It’s very dangerous.
