Nearly Half of Voters Believe Donald Trump Will Drop a Nuclear Bomb if He’s Elected

Even Trump Supporters Share Concerns

Almost half of voters, 46 percent, believe if elected Donald Trump will detonate a nuclear weapon. Nearly the same number, 44 percent, believe Trump would institute internment camps for the undocumented, according to a just-released poll by a conservative group founded “by former Republican elected officials and advisors to GOP administrations, congressional leaders, and party organizations.”

The Lincoln Leadership Initiative poll of 1051 registered voters also found a majority believe Trump will allow the U.S. government to default on its debt (54% chance), create a database to track all Muslims in the U.S. (also a 54% chance), order the military to target the families of terrorists (53% chance), and use the powers of his office against a political opponent (65% chance).

Respondents also said there is a 65% chance of race riots in major cities should Trump be elected.

Trump supporters polled also shared these concerns:

  • 22 percent chance that Trump would authorize the use of a nuclear weapon;

  • 33 percent chance the U.S. government would default on its debt;

  • 32 percent chance Trump would use the powers of his office against a political opponent;

  • 48 percent chance Trump would create a database to track all Muslims in the U.S.;

  • 29 percent chance Trump would order the military to target the families of terrorists;

  • 32 percent chance Trump would authorize internment camps for illegal immigrants; and

  • 36 percent chance there would be race riots in major U.S. cities.

The poll was conducted by SurveyMonkey between September 16-21.
