Donald Trump Hires the ‘Best People’ – but He Doesn’t Pay Them. DC Policy Shop Has ‘Melted Away’

Campaign Officials ‘Use and Abuse People’

Most of Donald Trump’s policy advisors have now quit, after working since April without pay. Trump claims he hires the “best people,” but he doesn’t pay them, according to a Washington Post article Thursday. Members of Trump’s Washington, D.C. suburb-area “policy shop,” tasked with “writing policy memos, organizing briefings, managing surrogates and placing op-eds … put in long hours before and during the Republican National Convention to help the campaign look like a professional operation.”

Days later, having worked for free despite being told they would be paid, they quit.

“It’s a complete disaster,” a “disgruntled former adviser” told me. “They use and abuse people. The policy office fell apart in August when the promised checks weren’t delivered.”

The Post adds a stunning but not surprising revelation.

“A lot of the policy office’s work seemed to be just for show. For example, it organized national security and economic advisory teams that are not actually advising the candidate on a regular basis. The national security advisory committee met with Trump only once.”

“The national security advisory board was total nonsense. They had absolutely no say in anything,” one unnamed former advisers says. “Most of them are just names on paper.”

One former advisor offered this concerning insight: “Would I say we had any demonstrable effect on anything they did in the campaign? No. None of us in the D.C. office were in Trump’s inner circle. It’s questionable still who is.”
