Democrats Blast Trump for “Suggesting Supporters Kill Hillary Clinton”

GOP Nominee Again Alludes to Opponent’s Assassination

If Hillary Clinton is assassinated, the blood will be on Donald Trump’s hands, Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy wrote on Twitter on Saturday morning.

On Friday night, Trump falsely claimed that Clinton supports repealing the Second Amendment, before saying that the Democratic nominee’s bodyguards “should drop all weapons.”

“Take their guns away,” he said. “She doesn’t want guns … let’s see what happens to her. Take their guns away, OK? It’d be very dangerous.”

Trump made similar remarks in August when he suggested that “Second Amendment people” should use their guns to prevent Clinton from taking them away.

Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, responded to Trump’s latest comment by saying the GOP nominee “has a pattern of inciting people to violence.”

“Whether this is done to provoke protesters at a rally or casually or even as a joke, it is an unacceptable quality in anyone seeking the job of Commander in Chief,” Mook said. “This kind of talk should be out of bounds for a presidential candidate, just like it should be out of bounds for a presidential candidate to peddle a conspiracy theory about the President of the United States for five years. But we’ve seen again and again that no amount of failed resets can change who Donald Trump is. He is unfit to be President and it is time Republican leaders stand up to denounce this disturbing behavior in their nominee.”

Also weighing in was Democratic former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who was shot in the head in 2011 when a gunman opened fire in Tuscon, killing six people:
