UPDATED: Clinton Left 9/11 Ceremony Early Because She ‘Felt Overheated’

Campaign Issues Statement Saying Democratic Nominee is ‘Feeling Much Better’

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton left a 9/11 memorial ceremony at Ground Zero early on Sunday because she “felt overheated” but is now “feeling much better,” according to a spokesman for her campaign.

Clinton reportedly went to her daughter Chelsea’s apartment after leaving the memorial ceremony.

Fox News initially reported (above) that Clinton left due to a “medical episode.”

Given recent right-wing conspiracy theories about Clinton’s health, it’s hardly surprising that Fox News’ report was somewhat sensationalized.

However, reporters from other outlets later confirmed Clinton left the ceremony early and said the media hadn’t been informed of her whereabouts.

According to MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin, two senior law enforcement sources confirmed that “Clinton fell ill and may have fainted.”

Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill said in a statement that Clinton attended the ceremony for 90 minutes “to pay her respects and greet some of the families of the fallen.”

“During the ceremony, she felt overheated so departed to go to her daughter’s apartment, and is feeling much better,” Merrill said.

This is a developing story and will be updated as new information becomes available.
