Train ‘Simply Did Not Stop’

One person is confirmed dead, and at least 70 people injured, some critically, after a passenger train crashed into the station platform in Hoboken, New Jersey. Initial reports had stated three people had died and 100 people were injured.

One witness said the train did not slow down as it went into the station but was traveling at its usual speed. Emergency responders are on the scene.

Another witness described the crash as sounding like a “huge explosion,” clarifying that it was not, adding that the train “went through the terminal, and into the terminal.”

The building itself is now considered structurally unsafe and has been evacuated.

Another witness explained the train “simply did not stop.”
