An Editorial Board Member of The Wall Street Journal Just Endorsed Hillary Clinton

Pulitzer Prize-Winning Writer at Nation’s Top Conservative Newspaper Calls Trump ‘Unstable, Proudly Uninformed, Psychologically Unfit’

Hillary Clinton has just been endorsed by perhaps one of the more unlikely sources to do so: a member of the Wall Street Journal editorial board. Dorothy Rabinowitz is a Pulitzer prize-winning writer who has supported John McCain’s presidential candidacies, she also in 1999 wrote in support of Juanita Broaddrick, the woman who has long-accused Bill Clinton of rape. The Journal is owned by Rupert Murdoch, who owns the companies that own Fox News.

In “Hillary-Hatred Derangement Syndrome,” Rabinowitz writes, “Her election alone is what stands between the American nation and the reign of the most unstable, proudly uninformed, psychologically unfit president ever to enter the White House.”

Rabinowitz chastizes the “NeverHillary” voters as “citizens well aware of the darker aspects of Donald Trump’s character but who have nonetheless concluded that they should give him their vote.”

“They are aware of his casual disregard for truth, his self-obsession, his ignorance, his ingrained vindictiveness,” she writes.

She calls it “remarkable, even for a change election, that [Clinton’s] experience, those years of education in national security somehow rank high on the list of defects the anti-Hillary brigades find so objectionable. Here is a flaw apparently even more rankling than her email server history, the questions about Benghazi, or the Clinton Foundation: She offers nothing of Mr. Trump’s aura of free-swinging dynamism, not to mention a mind blissfully uncluttered by facts, knowledge of geopolitical realities, and the like.”

Rabinowitz also notes Trump’s “accumulation of Alt-Right cheerleaders, white supremacists and swastika devotees” and “the menacing tone and the bitterness that came with it.”

And she concludes Clinton is an “educated former secretary of state, with lengthy experience in government” who is “forward-looking, indomitably determined and eminently sane.”

Clinton can add Rabinowitz’s endorsement to many others, especially those of newspapers who historically have always, or almost always, endorsed the Republican nominee. Some of those haven’t endorsed a Democrat in decades, if not over a century.

Even USA TODAY, who has never endorsed a presidential candidate, took sides on Thursday, urging voters to vote for anyone but Trump.
