WATCH: CNN’s Top Doc Calls Donald Trump’s Doctor’s Letter ‘Absurd’

Even Language Describing Trump’s Health Was Wrong

Dr. Sanjay Gupta is questioning the authenticity of the letter Donald Trump released to the public, supposedly written by a medical doctor testifying that the Republican presidential nominee’s health is “extraordinary.” The letter, which says it’s from Harold Bornstein, M.D., claims that if elected, Trump “will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.

“I don’t even know what to make of this letter,” CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta told Ashleigh Banfield. “That degree of hyperbole and these types of words being used is very unusual,” coming from a medical professional, Gupta agreed.

“People don’t write like that, that this is ‘the healthiest ever.’ First of all, they couldn’t substantiate. How do you know that someone is the healthiest ever?”

“There’s all sorts of language like that. ‘Strength and stamina are extraordinary.’ What does that mean exactly?,” Gupta questioned.

Gupta also said that as a doctor he would test a patient, “giving some objective data” as to what “strength and stamina” mean.

“Astonishingly excellent” was another term “not used by the medical community,” Gupta said, “so I don’t know where they come from.”

The CNN top doc also mocked the letter’s claim that tests “showed only positive results,” when doctors would say a good result is “negative,” and even that the letter refers to “test scores,” instead of “results,” he said, “as if it were an SAT score.”

“It’s just a strange letter that’s absurd,” Gupta concluded.
