Secret Service Is ‘Aware’ of Trump’s ‘Second Amendment’ Comments Against Clinton

Former Secret Service Agent Says Trump Is ‘Coming Pretty Close to the Edge’

The U.S. Secret Service has issued a statement in the wake of Donald Trump issuing a veiled call for “the Second Amendment people” to take action against Hillary Clinton before she is allowed to place justices on the Supreme Court. The agency is responsible for the safety of all living Presidents, current and past, as well as their families, and of presidential candidates.

“The US Secret Service is aware of the comments,” Secret Service communications director Cathy Milhoan said in a statement, according to several reporters and Bloomberg News. “We will not be offering any additional statements.”

TIME magazine just published an interview with an unnamed former Secret Service agent who says Trump “is coming pretty close to the edge here,” and if it were an ordinary American who made the comments Trump made, “you’d go out and interview them.”

The unnamed official “added that the Secret Service would have to consider the value of having agents interview Trump. But ‘if this was some guy off the street and they made that statement, you’d go out and interview them,’ the source told TIME. ‘He’s not gonna act on this. But you don’t know what you’re encouraging other people to do.'”

Meanwhile, there’s a Credo petition asking the Secret Service to investigate.
