New Clinton Ad Raises Questions About Trump’s Ties to Putin and Russia (Video)

Highlights Trump’s Pro-Putin Comments and Pro-Russia Policies

The Hillary Clinton campaign Sunday morning released a new ad hitting Donald Trump for his repeated comments praising Vladimir Putin and questioning his support of and financial ties to the Russian oligarch and his policies.

“We don’t know why Trump praises Putin,” the video opens, showing Trump praising the Russian president, saying he’s “been a very strong leader for Russia.”

It cuts to a clip of an MSNBC co-host, Republican Joe Scarborough, noting that Putin “kills journalists that don’t agree with him,” and Trump’s response: “At least he’s a leader.”

It also shows Trump telling supporters, “Putin did call me a genius,” and in an interview commenting, “He’s said very nice things about me.”

Later, it again shows Scarborough noting that “Trump always seems to upend Ameircan foreign policy tradition, in a way that benefits Vladimir Putin.”

The ad hits Trump on his comments attacking NATO, one of the singular most effective creations for keeping the West safe for decades, since its formation in 1949.

And it slams the Trump campaign for its campaign manager, Paul Manafort, who has ties to Putin-backed Ukraine forces.

The ad outright states, “We don’t know why Russia is trying to influence this election,” then cuts to a CNN clip stating “there is strong evidence” the DNC hack “is the work of Russian intelligence.”

And it highlights Trump’s call for Russia to engage in espionage by hacking into Clinton’s emails.

The ad then moves to question Trump’s financial ties to Russia, hitting him for not releasing his tax returns, something nearly every presidential nominee has done since the 1970s, and for good reason.

The ad closes, “We don’t know what’s going on here, and Donald won’t tell us. We’ll let you guess,” it concludes.
