Interim Chair Had Promised Reforms
Three top Democratic National Committee officials are resigning in the wake of the Wikileaks email scandal that last month forced the resignation of DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
Interim DNC Chair Donna Brazile on Tuesday announced the resignations of DNC CEO Amy Dacey, CFO Brad Marshall, and Communications Director Luis Miranda.
“Thanks in part to the hard work of Amy, Luis and Brad, the Democratic Party has adopted the most progressive platform in history, has put itself in financial position to win in November, and has begun the important work of investing in state party partnerships,” Brazil’s statement reads. “I’m so grateful for their commitment to this cause, and I wish them continued success in the next chapter of their career.”
Although Brazile’s announcement did not mention the Wikileaks hacking scandal, it’s no secret the resignations are tied to the embarrassing revelations made public just days before the 2016 Democratic National Convention began. Wikileaks founder Julian Assange in an interview admitted the emails were released to do the most damage to his personal foe, Hillary Clinton, as The New York Times reported.
ABC News combed through the nearly 20,000 emails released, and published what it says were the four “most damaging.”
