Chief Policy Director Behind House Republicans Officially Launches Run for President Against Trump

Conservative Behind the Republican House’s Strategies and Policies Says He’s a Good Alternative to Trump and Clinton

House Republicans for the past few years have been so out of control they actually forced their leader, Speaker John Boehner, to not only quit his role but to quit Congress. Their intransigence and desire to pass as few bills as possible, except ones to “repeal and replace” Obamacare, while refusing to act on gun control, voting rights, and Zika, can and should all be traced back to the people in charge of shaping policy for the House GOP.

Meet 40 year old Evan McMullin, who spent eight years as an undercover CIA operative for the National Clandestine Service, a few years at Goldman Sachs as an investment banker, and, as a deckhand 21 years ago, where he says on his LinkedIn profile, “I mostly just did my best not to fall in as we sailed the Alaskan seas.”

McMullin, in a statement to ABC News Monday mornng, formally announced his run for president, as an independent.

“In a year where Americans have lost faith in the candidates of both major parties, it’s time for a generation of new leadership to step up. It’s never too late to do the right thing, and America deserves much better than either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton can offer us. I humbly offer myself as a leader who can give millions of disaffected Americans a conservative choice for President,” McMullin told ABC News in a statement.

He’s also launched his campaign, sans any formal speech, with an Evan McMullin for President website and Facebook page.

For those who doubt McMullin’s part of the disaster that has been the House GOP the past few years – he began working for them in 2013, and became their Chief Policy Director in early January, 2015, here’s what McMullin says he did, again via LinkedIn:

Manage the development and advancement of House Republican Conference domestic and foreign policy initiatives, while leading Conference policy team. Specific areas of focus have been foreign affairs, national security, technology, health care, finance, government reform, natural resources, and women’s empowerment.

Please reach back into your memory and describe the successes House Republicans had in improving any of those areas.

Exactly.

“Veteran CIA operative” sounds really cool if you want to run for President. While McMullin won’t be able to get onto the ballot in 25 states, it’s great that the #NeverTrump folks will have a “champion” on whom to throw their vote away.

Curiously, McMullin allegedly did not tell anyone that he would be running for president, and is no longer employed by the House Republicans, according to Bloomberg.
