FBI Investigating Russian Hack of The New York Times (Video)

Russian Hackers Have Reportedly Hit The New York Times and Other News Organizations

The FBI is investigating after Russian hackers breached firewalls of The New York Times and other news organizations where reporters have sources in the federal government, according to a report by CNN, which cited “US officials briefed on the matter.”

Investigators so far believe that Russian intelligence is likely behind the attacks and that Russian hackers are targeting news organizations as part of a broader series of hacks that also have focused on Democratic Party organizations, the officials said,” CNN reports.

Washington think tanks and “a broad array of non-governmental organizations with windows into the US political system” have been targets of Russian hackers, who have also attacked the DNC and other Democratic organizations.

Wikileaks, which released DNC emails just before the Democratic National Convention last month, is believed to have some involvement with Russia and Russia hackers. Russia and Wikileaks are believed to be supportive of a Donald Trump presidency and working toward that result.
