NYT Reports Ex-Fox News Chief Roger Ailes Advising Trump – But Campaign Says They’re Just Friends
Disgraced and Ousted Over Dozens of Sexual Harassment ComplaintsÂ
Roger Ailes will be an advisor to the Donald Trump campaign, and will assist the Republican presidential nominee with debate preparations, according to The New York Times. The former Fox News Chairman and CEO who is most-responsible for what the conservative cable news empire has become, was ousted by the Murdochs, who head 21st Century Fox and News Corp, after dozens of sexual harassment complaints surfaced.Â
The New York Times, citing unnamed sources, reports “Mr. Ailes’s role could extend beyond the debates, which Mr. Trump’s advisers see as crucial to vaulting him back into strong contention for the presidency after a series of self-inflicted wounds that have eroded his standing in public opinion polls.”
Dan Pfeiffer, former senior advisor to President Barck Obama, offered these thoughts via Twitter:
Of course he is. Could anything be more predictable? https://t.co/vbZN5qTE05

But the Trump campaign is denying the reports, insisting Alies and Trump are just good friends:
Trump camp denies Ailes involvement: “They are longtime friends, but he has no formal or informal role in the campaign.”

New York Magazine’s National Affairs Editor offers this disturbing insight:
Important context is that Ailes has been advising Trump privately for months, sources close to both say.

Alies left Fox News just a few weeks ago.
On social media, many were surprised or disappointed that the Trump campaign would hire someone who was forced to resign over damning sexual harassment complaints:
Trump Inner Circle: Manafort (Putin flunky), Ailes (accused sexual harasser), Cohen (“can’t rape your own spouse”), Pierson (9/11 truther).

Trump said last week he knew nothing about sexual harassment allegations against Ailes. Now Ailes is advising him. pic.twitter.com/h0cuwZbe9U

Hiring a guy recently ousted over lurid sexual harassment charges is … I donno, doesn’t sound like the best plan https://t.co/qVdMGEwVLH
