CNN Host Calls Donald Trump a ‘Bullshit Artist,’ Trump Responds With Pouting Rant on Twitter

CNN Host and Pundit Slams Republican Presidential Nominee for Repeated Ignorance

Fareed Zakaria Monday afternoon made an unusual admonition: Donald Trump, Zakaria told his fellow CNN host Wolf Blitzer, is a “bullshit artist.”

Zakaria, whose bio says he is the “host of CNN’s flagship foreign affairs show, a Washington Post columnist, a contributing editor for The Atlantic and a New York Times bestselling author,” was discussing Trump’s latest remarks about Russia’s incursions into the Ukraine, a fact Trump appeared to have no knowledge of. The Republican nominee later claimed he meant that Russia, when Trump becomes president, would never go into the Ukraine, a clear attempt to save face:

“Well, there’s a pattern here, Wolf. Every time it is demonstrated that Donald Trump is plainly ignorant about some basic public policy issues, some well-known fact, he comes back with the certain bravado and tries to explain it away with a tweet or statement,” Zakria said.

Zakaria pointed to Trump’s previous gaffes on Brexit, the nuclear triad, U.S. debt markets, and his mixing up Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine with former New Jersey governor Tom Kean.

Calling it “amusing to watch,” Zakaria quipped, “How he is going to pull it off this time? What is he going to argue? Usually he adds that the press hates him, but there is a term for this kind of thing.”

“This is the mode of a bullshit artist, and you know, it’s sometimes amusing. It’s entertaining if the guy is trying to sell you a condo or a car, but for a president of the United States, it’s deeply worrying.”

Of course, Trump responded as he always does: He took to Twitter and went on a rant, firing off a half-dozen tweets attacking CNN – which he has claimed he never watches:
