Clinton Campaign Responds to Trump’s Call for ‘Second Amendment’ Violence Against Her
Campaign Says Trump’s Comments Are ‘Dangerous’
Tuesday afternoon Donald Trump told supporters in North Carolina that Hillary Clinton wants to eliminate the Second Amendment and that “the Second Amendment people maybe” will have to stop her. It was a thinly-veiled call for violence, and the Clinton campaign immediately responded, calling his remarks “dangerous.”
“This is simple—what Trump is saying is dangerous. A person seeking to be the President of the United States should not suggest violence in any way,” Hillary for America Campaign Manager Robby Mook said in a statement.
After telling supporters Clinton wants to “abolish” the Second Amendment, Trump said, “if she gets to pick her judges there’s nothing you can do folks.”
“Although the Second Amendment people maybe there is, I don’t know.”
The Trump campaign also issued a statement, directed at the “dishonest media,” claiming he was speaking about “the power of unification.”
