After Exploiting Murder of Dwyane Wade’s Cousin, Trump Sends “Thoughts and Prayers”

Campaign Initially Saw Nothing Wrong With Horrific Politicization of Tragedy

Earlier we told you how GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump attempted to exploit the tragic murder of NBA star Dwyane Wade’s cousin, by suggesting it was an example of why African-Americans will vote for him. 

A few hours later, the tweet was deleted from Trump’s account, and replaced with one that corrected the spelling of Wade’s first name. The otherwise identical replacement seems to indicate that Trump’s campaign saw nothing else wrong with the original: 

Finally, as outcry continued over Trump’s blatant politicization of the tragedy, he followed up with the proverbial “thoughts and prayers”: 

The New York Times‘ Dave Itzkoff notes that while the first tweet was sent from an Android device, the second was sent from an iPhone, and the third from an iPad: 

One data scientist recently concluded that Trump’s “angrier and more negative” tweets come from an Android device, indicating they were written by the candidate himself, while calmer announcements are sent by campaign staffers using iOS devices:
