Khizr Khan’s son died at the age of 27 defending his country: America. U.S. Army Captain Humayun Khan, a University of Virginia graduate, was killed protecting his fellow soldiers from a car bomb in Iraq. On Thursday night, in a powerful speech at the Democratic National Convention, his father stood on stage with his mother, two Muslim Americans, and reminded America what Donald Trump wants.Â
“If it were up to Donald Trump,” Khan told the packed convention, broadcast live to tens of millions of people, his son Humayun “never would have been in America.”
Khan told the audience, “Donald Trump consistently smears the character of Muslims. He disrespects other minorities, women, judges, even his own party leadership. He vows to build walls and ban us from this country.”
If that weren’t enough to destroy the facade of Trump, Khan continued his prosecution of the Republican nominee.
“Donald Trump, you are asking Americans to trust you with our future. Let me ask you: Have you even read the U.S. Constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy,” he said, as he pulled a pocket edition out. “In this document, look for the words ‘liberty’ and ‘equal protection of law.'”
Then he invited Trump to go to Arlington National Cemetery, asking if the Manhattan billionaire has ever even been there.Â
“Have you ever been to Arlington Cemetery? Go look at the graves of the brave patriots who died defending America — you will see all faiths, genders, and ethnicities.”
And then, the ultimate takedown, the ultimate unmasking.
“You have sacrificed nothing and no one.”
Even conservative recognized Trump had been pummeled.
