Trump Campaign Denies Melania’s Speech Was Stolen From Michelle Obama’s: ‘These Were Common Words’
‘There’s No Cribbing of Michelle Obama’s Speech’
The Donald Trump campaign has spent the past few hours fervently denying that Melania Trump plagiarized a portion of Michelle Obama’s 2008 DNC speech, despite the fact that the speeches, when played together, are nearly identical.

On CNN Tuesday morning, Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort denied there was any plagiarism, telling CNN’s Chris Cuomo, “there’s no cribbing of Michelle Obama’s speech.”
“These are common words and values, that she cares about her family, that things like that,” Manafort insisted. “She was speaking in front of 35 million people last night. She knew that. To think that she would be cribbing Michelle Obama’s words is crazy.”
“This is once again an example of when a woman threatens Hillary Clinton, how she seeks to demean her and take her down. It’s not going to work.”Â
It’s unclear how Hillary clinton had anything to do with the fact that an independent journalist first noticed the plagiarism and the media proved it.
“What she did was use words that are common words,” Manafort insisted.

Top Trump surrogate Chris Christie denied it was plagiarism: “Not when 93% of the speech is completely different than Michelle Obama’s speech.”Â

Melania Trump just before delivering her speech told NBC News’ Matt Lauer that she wrote her speech herself, and had only a little bit of help, but in responding to the charges overnight the campaign released a statement pinning whatever blame they deny there is to be had on her “team of writers.”
