Trump, After Posting Self-Serving, Ugly Tweet About Nice Attack, Postpones VP Announcement
Paragon of Vapid Ignobility
Donald Trump, as news of the attack in Nice, France, was being disseminated and people across the world trying to grapple with another tragedy, decided to use the deaths of at least 70 people to further his presidential ambitions by posting this ugly, useless, heartless, unstatesmanlike tweet:
Another horrific attack, this time in Nice, France. Many dead and injured. When will we learn? It is only getting worse.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 14, 2016
“When will we learn?”? When will we learn what, exactly? His tweet offered nothing.
Minutes later, again, he posted a self-serving tweet, this time announcing he is postponing the announcement of his choice of vice presidential candidate, no doubt to allow it to fill the media for another day, thus giving him even more free publicity:
In light of the horrible attack in Nice, France, I have postponed tomorrow’s news conference concerning my Vice Presidential announcement.

UPDATE: A few responses via Twitter –

The Donald Trump approach to tragedies is immediate back patting followed by fearmongering. Looks like we are on schedule.

Seriously why? Will you shut the @WhiteHouse down every time there is tragedy in the world? Or just white countries? @realDonaldTrump

Congrats, @realDonaldTrump on showing terrorists they can alter a presidential campaign. You’re a dangerous amateur pic.twitter.com/QgeLObMgYQ

I’m still blown away that Donald Trump’s immediate response to the carnage is France is to say “I told ya so.â€
