‘This Is the Real World That We Live In’
Bernie Sanders Monday afternoon was booed by his supporters when he urged them to elect Hillary Clinton. The Vermont Senator who built a huge base of supporters addressed them at a meeting ahead of the Democratic National Convention being gaveled in this afternoon.
“We have got to defeat Donald Trump,” Sanders told delegates and supporters. “We have got to elect Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine,” he continued, to loud boos and cries of “no!”
Sanders raised his hand in an attempt to quell the upset.Â
“Brothers and sisters,” Sanders said repeatedly, “this is the real world that we live in.”
“Donald Trump is a bully and a demagogue. Trump has made bigotry and hatred the cornerstone of his campaign,” he said.
Supporters quickly turned into protestors, making it difficult for Sen. Sanders to continue speaking.
