NY Daily News Front Page: ‘CIVIL WAR’ at GOP National Convention After Cruz Refuses to Endorse Trump
‘Cruz to GOPers: Vote for anyone you want!’
The New York Daily News front page Thursday morning captures the chaos and “civil war” that is the GOP right now, after the man who tried to beat Trump but lost in the primaries stood on stage at the Republican National Convention in prime time Wednesday night and refused to endorse the GOP nominee.
Ted Cruz delivered one of his best speeches ever, which drew cheers from the audience, but when it became clear he was not going to endorse Donald Trump, the crowd turned on the Texas Tea Party Senator, and booed him until he finished. His 23-minute speech ran far longer than the Trump campaign had allotted, and when Trump realized there would be no endorsement and Cruz was eating into VP nominee Mike Pence’s time, he walked into the convention taking the focus away from Cruz.

“To those listening, please don’t stay home in November,†Cruz told the crowd. “Vote your conscience,†he concluded.

This marks the third day in a row that the Republican National Convention has been a total disaster for Trump and his campaign, demonstrating his total inability to manage a convention – and a campaign.Â
