Melania Speechwriter Admits Mistake, Proving Every Defense by Every Trump and GOP Official Was a Lie

New Explanation Is More of an Indictment Than Trump Campaign’s Previous Lies

A woman who says she is a “longtime friend and admirer of the Trump family” and an “in-house staff writer at the Trump Organization” has just issued a statement taking full blame for the plagiarism found in Melania Trump’s speech Monday night.

Meredith McIver, who was Donald Trump’s ghostwriter for three of his books, calls Melania Trump’s speech to the RNC “her recent First Lady speech,” noting that Michelle Obama is a person Trump’s wife “has always liked.”

“Over the phone,” McIver writes, Melania Trump “read me some passages from Mrs. Obama’s speech as examples. I wrote them down and alter included some of the phrasing in the draft that ultimately became the final speech.”

McIver calls the fact that the speech contained portions of Michelle Obama’s speech “my mistake,” saying she feels “terrible for the chaos” she caused and that no harm was meant.

She adds that she offered her resignation but Donald trump refused it, saying everyone makes mistakes.

What this actually means is that every defense and refutation the Trump campaign and top GOP officials have been pushing are lies. It also means that Melania Trump knew the words she spoke, having spoken them before, were cribbed from Michelle Obama’s speech.

On MSNBC minutes ago, Andrea Mitchell called the explanation “charming,” but anyone looking at the big picture should easily be able to see that everyone, everyone, everyone on the Trump and GOP side directly involved in this fiasco lied.
