FBI and DOJ Investigating Possible Hack of Clinton Campaign After DCCC Compromised

Russia Again Believed to Be Behind Widespread Cyber Intrusion Into Democratic Organizations

The FBI and the Department of Justice are investigating the possible hacking of the Clinton campaign’s computer systems. Reuters reports the Clinton campaign, officially Hillary for America, was hacked apparently by the same Russian hackers who invaded the Democratic National Committee (DNC), and more recently, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). Reince Priebus, chair of the Republican National Committee has stated the RNC has not been hacked.

“The intrusion was discovered by private investigators hired by the campaign, according to one of the law enforcement officials,” CNN reports. “The private investigators believe it is similar to the Democratic National Committee hack, but federal investigators are still working to determine the scope and nature of the intrusion, the official explained.”

US officials believe, CNN reports, that there is “strong evidence indicating the cyber intrusion of the DNC was the work of hackers working on behalf of Russian intelligence.”

The Clinton campaign has just released a statement saying only a DNC data analysis program was hacked, not Clinton computer systems:
