BREAKING: Sanders to Finally Endorse Clinton on Tuesday

Announcement Expected at Joint Event in New Hampshire

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is expected to endorse former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for president on Tuesday, three Democrats who’ve been involved in the planning told The New York Times.

Thursday’s NYT story follows reports from Wednesday that the Clinton and Sanders camps were discussing a joint event in New Hampshire next week.

In an interview with Bloomberg on Thursday, Sanders came as close to endorsing Clinton as he ever has.

“We have got to do everything that we can to defeat Donald Trump and elect Hillary Clinton,” he said. “I don’t honestly know how we would survive four years of a Donald Trump as president.”

On Wednesday night, Sanders would not deny that the endorsement was in the works.

The NYT reports that the pending endorsement is being orchestrated by the two candidates’ campaign managers, Clinton’s Robby Mook and Sanders’ Jeff Weaver, who recently had dinner together in Vermont.

Earlier this week, Sanders was booed by House Democrats who are frustrated that he hasn’t officially dropped out of the race and backed Clinton.

The latest delegate count shows Clinton leading Sanders 2,811 to 1,879, with only 2,383 needed to win the nomination.
