Breaking: ‘They Cheated’: #NeverTrump Movement Fails to Toss Out Rules After RNC Ignores Demands

Entire Colorado, Iowa Delegations Walk Out of Convention

A large number of Republican delegates minutes ago tried to force the RNC to toss out the accepted rules in order to unbind delegates and allow them to vote their conscience – and, in effect, to not vote for Donald Trump.

In what has to be the most cowardly act of his tenure, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus was not even on stage, much less in charge of the vote, allowing someone else to take the fall for what he knew would be a disaster.

Former GOP Senator Ward Humphrey on MSNBC just called those in charge of whipping the vote, “Brownshirts.”

This is not a meeting of the Republican National Committee, this is a meeting of Brownshirts. They may not be fascists but they are acting like fascists.”

Those who demanded a roll call vote over the rules insist they submitted enough signatures to warrant a roll call vote, but were not even recognized.

GOP Sen. Mike Lee just told MSNBC he’s never seen anything like this, and blasted RNC Chair Reince Priebus for walking off the stage and not taking charge.

And former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli on-air live on MSNBC accused the RNC of cheating. “They cheated,” he clearly said.

UPDATE II: 4:54 PM EDT –
Veteran journalist Dan Rather explains what happened and its ramifications:

“Breaking from the convention floor right now. I’m witnessing something rather unusual. Iowa and Colorado delegates have staged a walk out after losing an anti-trump vote. This is a “wow”, not totally unprecedented, but unusual and not a good start for “Trump’s convention.” Strictly symbolic and the convention rolls forward but the walkout is further evidence — not that any was needed — of how the deep he divisions are in the Republican party. Parties deeply split rarely win elections. Humphrey lost to Nixon in ’68 partly – perhaps mostly – due to democratic party split. Carter lost to reagan..ditto. Trump clearly has a chance to win presidency, but this walkout signals that his path to victory has grown harder. Not a good way to start his convention.”

And this:

MSNBC reports Minnesota, Iowa, Maine, and Washington, D.C. took their names off the petition to have a roll call vote and toss out the rules to allow delegates to vote as they wish.
