Updated: The Man Who Made Fox News What It Is Today May Soon Be Gone From Fox News

Fox News CEO Roger Ailes May Be Leaving After Sexual Harassment Accusations From at Least Seven Women

The man who made Fox News into a cable news network that actually makes viewers less informed about the news than people who watch no news at all may soon be out at Fox News, after initial reports from The Daily Beast and Drudge stating he was “out.” McClatchy DC reports, “Roger Ailes is out as CEO of Fox News, according to multiple reports,” adding, “The departure was announced Tuesday afternoon by the Drudge Report and confirmed by Fox to the Daily Beast.”

Updated reports state Ailes is still with Fox News:

Swimming in a flood of sexual harassment allegations – at least seven and possibly more – the heads of Fox News’ parent company, 21st Century Fox and News Corp., reportedly have decided that Roger Ailes must go. He may leave Fox News and may be given a $40 million golden parachute severance package.

Former “Fox & Friends” co-host Gretchen Carlson, after her contract expired, started the ball rolling with a lawsuit earlier this month. Six other women subsequently came forward, according to the man who literally wrote the book on Ailes, New York Magazine reporter Gabriel Sherman. And news broke today that Fox News top host Megyn Kelly gave a deposition stating Ailes had also harassed her early in her Fox News tenure.

The Daily Beast and Drudge first reported the news. The Daily Beast has changed its report, stating, “Several outlets reported Tuesday that beleaguered chairman and CEO Roger Ailes will depart the cable news network following sexual harassment claims by former anchor Gretchen Carlson.”

Just 24 hours ago 21st Century Fox issued a statement denying reports Ailes had been fired, stating, “This matter is not yet resolved and the review is not concluded.”
