Watch: Obama Jokes With Jimmy Fallon About GOP’s Choice of Presidential Nominee

President Obama Will Appear on the ‘Tonight Show’ – Here’s a Preview Clip

President Barack Obama Wednesday afternoon taped an interview with NBC’s Jimmy Fallon which will air in full Thursday night.

In the clip above, Fallon asks, “Do you think the Republicans are happy with their choice?”

“We are,” the leader of the Democratic Party quipped. He then says, “that was too easy,” further mocking the presumptive Republican nominee.

“The truth is actually I am worried about the Republican Party. And I know that sounds – you know – you know what it sounds like,” President Obama continued.

“You want the Republican nominee to be somebody who could do the job if they win. And you want folks who understand the issues. And where you can sit across the table from them and you have a principled argument. And ultimately can still move the country forward.”

Earlier in the interview President Obama says, “It was a healthy thing for the Democratic Party to have a contested primary.”

“I thought that Bernie Sanders brought enormous energy and new ideas. And he pushed the party and challenged them. I thought it made Hillary a better candidate. I think she is whip smart. She is tough. And she deeply cares about working people and putting kids through school and making sure we’re growing our economy.”
