Watch: NYC Pride Dedicated to Orlando Terror Victims

New Gays Against Guns Group Featuring Pride Flag Creator Gilbert Baker Marched

Organizers of the New York City Pride Parade dedicated Sunday’s event to the 49 victims of the Orlando terror attack that left 49 people dead and 53 more injured. That attack was also an anti-LGBT hate crime and the nation’s deadliest mass shooting in modern times.

The parade began at noon with a moment of silence to honor the victims.

Throughout the parade there were actions to honor the victims, and to denounce America’s gun violence crisis. Very powerful statements include silent marchers dressed all in white, with white veils, each one marching in the name of one of the Orlando victims, and a die-in to remind America our gun crisis must be solved.

Newly-formed group Gays Against Guns marched, featuring Pride flag creator Gilbert Baker. Also, one group marched with a rainbow banner reading, “Republican Hate Kills.”
