Watch: NYC City Councilman Destroys Gay Republican’s Claim Trump Is Better for LGBT People

Former GOProud Leader Has Only One Actual Point, and It’s False

Chris Barron brutally lost a debate on which presidential candidate is better for the LGBT community Tuesday night when he went up against New York City Councilman Corey Johnson. Barron, who just months ago as Johnson pointed out, has called Donald Trump a “sociopath,” and as NCRM has repeatedly noted, has called gay liberals “the American Taliban,” is now the face of Gays for Trump, or, something.

That facade has allowed the billionaire businessman to claim, in the days following the anti-LGBT hate crime terror attack at an Orlando gay nightclub that “LGBT is starting to like Donald Trump very much lately. Starting to like Donald Trump very, very much lately.” Of course, the number of LGBT people who support Trump is minuscule, but facts are foreign to the GOP presumptive nominee.

Barron and Johnson appeared on CNN as Don Lemon moderated the debate. Barron’s sole talking point, the exact same and only one Trump has, and has said, is that Trump is better for LGBT people than Hillary Clinton because he will combat terrorism. That’s it. Trump has no actual plan to combat terrorism, no experience, no understanding of who the players are, and his campaign to date has actually scared and offended the rest of the world and emboldened terrorists.

“What I think is hilarious,” Barron said in response to Johnson noting Trump had spent all of Tuesday with over 1000 top evangelical Christian leaders, “is that Donald Trump’s not allowed to talk to evangelical Christians, but Hillary Clinton can take $50 million from Saudi Arabia, that the penalty for being gay in Saudi Arabia, ranges from chemical castration to death.”

Of course, Barron’s incorrect on several points. Hillary Clinton has not taken $50 million from Saudi Arabia, and as Secretary of State she had zero control over the Clinton Foundation, which is a not-for-profit charity. And Donald Trump can of course talk to evangelical Christians, but that’s not what he did. Trump sat with them for seven hours, and promised them the moon, including that he will get rid of the law that bans them – and all tax-exempt organizations – from engaging in partisan politics. He also on Tuesday announced the formation of an Evangelical Executive Advisory Board headed by some of Americas most anti-LGBT leaders.

Johnson told Barron, “it’s funny” that now that Trump has said “the four letters ‘LGBT’ that he’s somehow the champion of the LGBT community,” and pointed to Trump’s pow-wow with the 1000 evangelicals today, calling them “a who’s who of the gay right, people who have made a professional career of demonizing and denigrating gay people.”

“Donald Trump is against marriage equality,” Johnson reminded Barron, “Donald Trump says he wants to remake the Supreme court and make it even more conservative. Donald Trump has never been there for the gay community – he is a megalomaniacal, arrogant crazy person.”

“You said on your own Twitter feed, Johnson reminded Barron, “‘Donald Trump is a sociopath.'”

Barron, who has now deleted his anti-Trump tweets from last year, in typical Trump fashion then called Hillary Clinton “a bigger sociopath than Donald Trump could ever be,” which sounds like he admitted that he still thinks Trump is, in fact, a sociopath.

Barron then summed up his argument by saying “the left wants to scare gay people into not even thinking about voting for Donald Trump.”

“If you want people to have equal rights and dignity,” Barron claimed, “then talk about combating radical Islam.”

Donald Trump and Chris Barron can talk all they want about “combating radical Islam.” Only Hillary Clinton has the know-how, experience, and plan to do so.
