Democrats Protest Republican Refusal to Allow a Vote on Gun Control, After Deadliest Mass Shooting in Nation’s Modern Day History
For nearly 22 hours Democrats have been on the Floor of the House staging a sit-in and protest of Republicans’ refusal to allow a vote on gun control legislation. In the early morning hours Thursday, Republicans gaveled the House out of session and literally left town, starting their 4th of July vacation early.

Democrats have vowed to continue the protest on the House Floor. Rep. John Lewis, the civil rights icon who started and has led this protest and sit-in, one hour ago posted this to Twitter:
