Watch: Barney Frank Plays ‘Hardball’ With Sanders Campaign Manager Jeff Weaver

Both Sides Hit Hard in Contentious Interview

Former Congressman Barney Frank faced off in a showdown long in the making against Bernie Sanders Campaign Manager Jeff Weaver Wednesday night on “Hardball.”

Weaver said the campaign wanted people who “may have been Clinton supporters,” but “have played a less-divisive role,” alluding to comments the former Congressman has made against Senator Sanders.

Frank defended his right to be nominated by Hillary Clinton as a Democratic Convention co-chair of the platform committee, to which the Sanders campaign for weeks has objected, ultimately filing a formal complaint with the DNC, that was rejected last week. He also explained why he was nominated, and promised to ensure Sanders’ rights are protected.

At the end of the interview, Weaver attacked Donald Trump for not releasing his taxes, and Matthews was able to get Weaver to agree Sen. Sanders will release his taxes before the convention. To date he has released only one year of taxes, Clinton has released eight years of tax returns and 30 years of financial information.
