UCLA Shooter Had a ‘Kill List,’ Minnesota Woman on It Found Dead by Police

Disturbing Details

For many hours Wednesday the UCLA campus was on lockdown as the LAPD searched for a shooter after reports of shots fired were called in. When it was over, police confirmed the two people first reported “down,” were dead. Now, the disturbing details are emerging.

The shooter, who apparently killed himself during the attack, has been identified as Mainak Sarkar. The man he is believed to have killed is his former professor, 39-year old William Klug. Sarkar had accused Klug of stealing his computer code and giving it to another student.

Sarkar, who lived in Minnesota, had a “kill list,” according to police, the LA Times reports. On that list is the name of a woman in Minnesota whom police today found dead.

There is also a second name on the list that of another UCLA professor, who is physically unharmed.

Sarkar back in March made the accusation against his former professor.

“William Klug, UCLA professor is not the kind of person when you think of a professor. He is a very sick person. I urge every new student coming to UCLA to stay away from this guy,” Sarkar wrote. “He made me really sick. Your enemy is my enemy. But your friend can do a lot more harm. Be careful about whom you trust.”

The LA Times reports a “source called the gunman’s accusations ‘absolutely untrue,'” and “absolutely psychotic.”
