These Airlines Are Offering Free Flights to Help Families Affected by the Orlando Terror Attack

In the wake of the Pulse anti-LGBT hate crime massacre in Orlando this past weekend, two airlines are stepping up to help family members of the victims. 

JetBlue is providing free seats on its available flights to and from Orlando for immediate family and domestic partners of victims who were killed or injured. Also, American Airlines has donated one million AAdvantage miles to the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida in addition to waiving any fees associated with the transportation of loved ones back to their hometowns.

Here are the details for getting assistance from the two airlines.

JETBLUE

JetBlue released the following information through Twitter on Monday:

We want to do our part to help the victims of this tragedy, as well as support the Orlando community through this difficult time.

• JetBlue is providing free seats on its available flights to/from Orlando for immediate family and domestic partners of victims who were killed or injured. Those family members and domestic partners requiring travel assistance can contact 1-800-JETBLUE for details.
• A fee waiver is in place for customers traveling to/from Orlando who need to make last-minute changes to their travel plans.
• For JetBlue crewmembers impacted by this event, we have activated resources to assist and are offering a donation program. Crewmembers can visit our internal website, hellojetblue, or talk to their crewleader for more details.

JetBlue will make a charitable contribution to support the victims and their families.

American Airlines

“American Airlines is waiving any fees associated with the transportation of loved ones back to their hometowns,” Chris Singley, Managing Director Community Relations & Employee Engagement for American Airlines, told NCRM. “Anything we can do to make dealing with this terrible tragedy just a little easier for the victims and their families, we will certainly do.”

To receive assistance from American Airlines, family members of the victims can contact the company’s special desk at 1-800-228-7878 or by email at TLC@aa.com to make accommodations after a funeral home has been selected.

In addition to the information above, American Airlines has also donated one million AAdvantage miles to the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida, to support the work they are doing to assist the victims of the Orlando shooting.

For anyone wanting to support the victims and their families, a GoFundMe page has been set up here. so far, the page has raised $4.2 million in three days.

And the Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has created the OneOrlando Fund. You can contribute here. Disney donated $1 million to help start the ball rolling.
