Also, the Poor, Women, and Children
Pope Francis says all Christians and the Catholic Church must apologize to gay people for the way they have been treated. The pontiff made the historic remarks on the papal plane returning back to Rome from Armenia.
“We Christians have to apologize for so many things, not just for this [treatment of gay people], but we must ask for forgiveness. Not just apologize – forgiveness,” the Pope said, The Straits Times reports. The Pope had been asked if he agreed with a high-ranking German cardinal’s recent remarks that Christians and the Church needing to say they are sorry to gay people.
“The questions is: if a person who has that condition, who has good will, and who looks for God, who are we to judge?,” the Pope added, echoing his famous comments, “Who am I to judge?” about gay people several years ago.Â
“I repeat what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says: that they must not be discriminated against, that they must be respected and accompanied pastorally,” the Pope also said, according to CNN. “The Church must ask forgiveness for not behaving many times — when I say the Church, I mean Christians! The Church is holy, we are sinners!”
The Pope also mentioned others the Church has marginalized.
“I think that the Church not only should apologize,” Pope Francis told reporters on the plane, “to a gay person whom it offended but it must also apologize to the poor as well, to the women who have been exploited, to children who have been forced to work, it has to ask forgiveness for having blessed many weapons.”
German Cardinal Reinhard Marx had said that the Catholic Church has been “very negative” about gay people and should apologize.
The editor-at-large of Catholic magazine America, Rev. James Martin, “called the Pope’s apology to gays and lesbians historic,” CNN reports.
“This is a groundbreaking moment. While St. John Paul II apologized to several groups in 2000–the Jewish people, indigenous peoples, immigrants and women, among them–no pope has ever come close to apologizing to the LGBT community. And the Pope is correct of course. First, because forgiveness is an essential part of the Christian life. And second, because no group feels more marginalized in the church today than LGBT people.”
The Catholic News Agency posted a transcript of the Pope’s full remarks:
Cindy Wooden, CNS:Â Holiness, within the past few days Cardinal Marx, the German, speaking at a large conference in Dublin which is very important on the Church in the modern world, said that the Catholic Church must ask forgiveness to the gay community for having marginalized these people. In the days following the shooting in Orlando, many have said that the Christian community had something to do with this hate toward these people. What do you think?
Pope Francis: I will repeat what I said on my first trip. I repeat what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says: that they must not be discriminated against, that they must be respected and accompanied pastorally. One can condemn, but not for theological reasons, but for reasons of political behavior…Certain manifestations are a bit too offensive for others, no? … But these are things that have nothing to do with the problem. The problem is a person that has a condition, that has good will and who seeks God, who are we to judge? And we must accompany them well…this is what the catechism says, a clear catechism. Then there are traditions in some countries, in some cultures that have a different mentality on this problem. I think that the Church must not only ask forgiveness – like that “Marxist Cardinal†said (laughs) – must not only ask forgiveness to the gay person who is offended. But she must ask forgiveness to the poor too, to women who are exploited, to children who are exploited for labor. She must ask forgiveness for having blessed so many weapons. The Church must ask forgiveness for not behaving many times – when I say the Church, I mean Christians! The Church is holy, we are sinners! – Christians must ask forgiveness for having not accompanied so many choices, so many families…I remember from my childhood the culture in Buenos Aires, the closed Catholic culture. I go over there, eh! A divorced family couldn’t enter the house, and I’m speaking of 80 years ago. The culture has changed, thanks be to God. Christians must ask forgiveness for many things, not just these. Forgiveness, not just apologies. Forgive, Lord. It’s a word that many times we forget. Now I’m a pastor and I’m giving a sermon. No, this is true, many times. Many times … but the priest who is a master and not a father, the priest who beats and not the priest who embraces, forgives and consoles. But there are many. There are many hospital chaplains, prison chaplains, many saints. But these ones aren’t seen. Because holiness is modest, it’s hidden. Instead it’s a little bit of blatant shamelessness, it’s blatant and you see so many organizations of good people and people who aren’t as good and people who … because you give a purse that’s a little big and look at you from the other side like the international powers with three genocides. We Christians – priests, bishops – we have done this. But also we Christians have Teresa of Calcutta and many Teresa of Calcuttas. We have many servants in Africa, many laity, many holy marriages. The wheat and the weeds. And so Jesus says that the Kingdom … we must not be scandalized for being like this. We must pray so that the Lord makes these weeds end and there is more grain. But this is the life of the Church. We can’t put limits. All of us are saints, because all of us have the Holy Spirit. But we are all sinners, me first of all! Alright. I don’t know if I have replied.

Tucker Carlson Falsely Tells Fox News Viewers Biden to Give Haitian Migrants Voting Rights – ‘That’s in the Works Right Now’
President Joe Biden is under fire from members of his own party, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), for his decision to mass deport thousands of Haitian migrants and refugees fleeing to the U.S.
If you are a Fox News viewer you likely do not know this.
Instead, this is what you know, after listening to the face of the far right wing conservative cable channel – a white nationalist who continues to engage in lies promoting the racist “great replacement” theory.
The Haitian migrants are “not refugees,” Tucker Carlson tells Fox News viewers Tuesday night. “They are not being persecuted by any government, and that’s why they have not applied for asylum in any of the countries between Haiti and the United States, and there are many of them.”
The New York Times reports the reasons for the mass influx of Haitian migrants include the tenuous “political and economic stability of Haiti,” which has left “parts of its capital under the control of gangs” and is “forcing tens of thousands to flee their homes. The assassination of Haiti’s president and a magnitude 7.2 earthquake this summer have only added to the pressures causing people to leave the country.”
Here’s how Tucker Carlson interprets those facts:
“These are economic migrants. They’re rich enough for a plane ticket and a smartphone, but they’re eager for the free health care, the education, the housing vouchers, the food stamps, and much more that Joe Biden has promised them if they make it to the United States.”
Some are coming “on foot and by bus,” the Times reports, traveling via Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Panama, and Mexico. Some have been traveling for years.
President Biden never promised Haitian migrants anything, and in fact he, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken have all very publicly urged migrants and refugees everywhere in the world to only come to the U.S. under legal methods. Many on the left are angered by those remarks, and the deportations, insisting America should open its doors to all who desperately need help, but that is not what the Biden administration has been doing.
Carlson continued, telling his supporters, “So of course they’re coming from Haiti, and from the rest of the world, you would too. They’d be crazy not to.”
“Once they get here the Biden administration plans to give them voting rights – that’s in the works right now,” Carlson claims, offering zero proof. “So the people you just saw on your screen could very well be choosing your President, at some point down the road.”
There are over 168 million registered voters in the U.S., and that is not the full number of eligible voters. Haitian migrants – who are not getting voting rights “once they get here” – they are already here and not voting – but if they did, would not be “choosing your President.”
“This is a manufactured crisis,” Carlson concludes, walking right into his favorite “great replacement” theory.
“This is an attempt to change the demographics of the United States in order to give permanent power to the Democratic Party,” he declares, as if only white people vote Republican.
“That’s all it is, no matter what they tell you.”
Annnnd here’s Tucker Carlson once again openly peddling the Great Replacement theory on the most-watched cable news show:

Expert Warns 2024 Election May Not Be Conducted Fairly – Urges ‘Millions’ to Engage in ‘Peaceful Protests’
A top elections law expert has issued a strong warning that the 2024 presidential election may not be conducted fairly, and wants “millions” of Americans to take to the streets “for peaceful protests.”
Rick Hasen, a Professor of Law and Political Science at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, in a 32-page draft paper, writes that because of many election workers and office holders, the 2020 election – despite Donald Trump’s efforts – was carried out fairly, but America is facing a serious challenge and democracy could be the loser in 2024.
He writes, “the ultimate safeguard of American democracy during this period of democratic instability may be millions of people taking to the streets for peaceful protests to demand fair vote counting and adherence to the rule of law. In 2020, it was enough to avoid election subversion that some heroes stepped up to assure that elections ran smoothly, votes fairly counted, and a peaceful transition of power took place. Next time, a few heroes in the right places may be inadequate. I fear that only concerted, peaceful collective action against an attempt to subvert election results stands between American democracy and nascent authoritarianism.”
Calling it an “unexpected moment of democratic peril in the United States,” Hasen warns in the introduction/abstract: “Preserving and protecting American democracy from the risk of election subversion should be at the top of everyone’s agenda. The time to act is now, before American democracy disappears.”
DeSantis Hires New Surgeon General: A Hydroxychloroquine-Pushing Physician Who Appeared in ‘Demon Sperm’ Doc’s Video
Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, responsible for one of the worst COVID-19 responses in the nation, has just announced his new Surgeon General, Joseph A. Ladapo, MD, PhD, a UCLA Medical Center physician and health policy researcher who appeared in the viral “Demon Sperm” quack doctor’s video that advocated the use of hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19.
Today, I appointed Dr. Joseph A. Ladapo, MD, PhD as Florida Surgeon General and Secretary of the Florida Department of Health. He has a remarkable academic and medical career, and will bring great leadership to @healthyFla. Watch: https://t.co/7b3KnwIpjI

NEW: Florida’s new Surgeon General, Dr. Joseph Ladapo, was a strong proponent of hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID.
He was in a viral video – now removed from social media – discussing his belief that the drug helps COVID patients.

Dr. Ladapo appears to be anti-mask, pro-ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, and against mass vaccinating the public against the coronavirus which to date has now killed over 675,000 Americans.
For example, in one of his many op-eds, mostly published in the Wall Street Journal, Dr. Lapado says it’s “reasonable” for parents to not want to, or to be skeptical of vaccinating their children. In February he hinted that the vaccine might not be safe for pregnant women, calling for “humility about areas of uncertainty—such as vaccination in pregnant women.” CDC guidance now urges them to be vaccinated. Studies show pregnant women who contract coronavirus are 10, 15, and even 22 times more likely to die if unvaccinated.
“Tools for stopping variants are limited and, like masks and distancing, vaccines are not a panacea,” Dr. Ladapo also wrote in February.

— Ron Filipkowski (@RonFilipkowski) September 21, 2021
In an April op-ed, “An American Epidemic of ‘Covid Mania’,” he wrote: “The problem isn’t only the overreaction to the virus but the diminution of every other problem.”
In June he asked, “Are Covid Vaccines Riskier Than Advertised?” despite billions of people worldwide having been vaccinated with almost no lasting negative side effects.
Dr. Ladapo appeared in a viral video social media companies removed from their platforms in 2020, a video that received millions of views in part thanks to then-President Donald Trump. It featured “a group that has dubbed itself America’s Frontline Doctors, standing on the steps of the Supreme Court and claiming that neither masks nor shutdowns are necessary to fight the pandemic, despite a plethora of expertise to the contrary,” as The Washington Post reported.
The lead physician, Stella Immanuel, “has a history of making particularly outlandish statements — including that the uterine disorder endometriosis is caused by sex with demons that takes place in dreams.”
That led phrases like “demon semen,” and “demon sperm” to take over social media.
Rolling Stone, profiling the physicians who appeared in the video, including Ladapo, called them “COVID-19 Truthers.”
