NY Daily News Front Page: ‘SLAUGHTER HOUSE: Senate Votes in Favor of Continued Mass Killings’
NYC Tabloid Gets It Right Again
The New York Daily News Tuesday continued its record of publishing dramatic and stunning front page covers, this time taking the U.S. Senate to task for voting down four gun control bills Monday evening.Â
The cover shows the U.S. Capitol building drenched in blood amid a backdrop of dozens of its own front page covers reporting mass shootings and related news. The cover story, ‘SLAUGHTER HOUSE: Senate Votes in Favor of Continued Mass Killings,’ begins, “The only thing that’s changed is the body count.”
The News puts the blame squarely where it belongs.
“The GOP-controlled Senate failed to pass legislation aimed at keeping suspected terrorists from buying guns and tightening background checks Monday, shrugging off the worst mass shooting in U.S. history with more inaction.”
“Barely a week after the Orlando nightclub massacre that killed 49 people and just days after a 15-hour filibuster from Democrats, it felt like ‘Groundhog Day’ on Capitol Hill, with votes falling mostly along party lines to defeat four gun control measures.”
