Evangelical FRC Founder Sad Men Aren’t Shooting Transgender ‘Perverts’ Like They Did 100 Years Ago

James Dobson Tells Parents, ‘Protect Your Kids From Tyrant Obama’

Dr. James Dobson is sad that men aren’t shooting transgender people – whom he suggests are all “perverts” – when they use restrooms that correspond with their gender identity. The founder of Focus On The Family, and what today is an anti-gay hate group, Family Research Council, describes what he believes to be a typical transgender woman: “a strange-looking man, dressed like a woman,” who peers “over toilet cubicles to watch your wife in a private moment.” 

In a WND column titled, “Protect Your Kids From Tyrant Obama,” Dobson, once heralded as one of the most influential Christian evangelical leaders in the country and the logical successor to Billy Graham, asks: “What should be done to the pervert who was using mirrors to watch women and girls in their stalls?”

And then he expresses his sadness that transgender women aren’t being shot these days, perhaps suggesting that they should be, just for peeing in the women’s restroom.

“If you are a dad, I pray you will protect your little girls from men who walk in unannounced, unzip their pants and urinate in front of them. If this had happened 100 years ago, someone might have been shot. Where is today’s manhood? God help us!”

This is dangerous talk, to be sure, as Raw Story’s Lorraine Berry explains:

“It is not clear if Dobson is aware that he is using the language of protecting a woman’s honor by killing those who might violate it, but his language is reminiscent of the ways that mobs were whipped up to hang black men and boys for perceived slights to white women.”

Michael Stone at Progressive Secular Humanist puts it more bluntly. In an article titled, “James Dobson: Kill Transgender People Using Public Bathrooms,” Stone writes, “Evangelist James Dobson says transgender people using public bathrooms should be shot.”

It’s really not much of a stretch to say Dobson is telegraphing a call to violent action to those who read between the lines.

And to reinforce his call to violent action, Dobson insists, “We must fight to protect our homes and families from politically correct politicians who would create new entitlements that take away our liberties. There is no time to lose. Our children hang in the balance.”

Dobson goes on to label President Barack Obama a “tyrant,” and asks, “How dare he assault centuries of modesty and moral beliefs! By what authority does he tell parents and school officials what to teach children under their care? Christian parents, does this outrageous order violate something deep within your sense of propriety? The president has already maneuvered the courts to undermine a 5,000-year-old definition of marriage, after experiencing his infamous epiphany. Now he is determined to change Western civilization forever. He becomes more reckless and defiant as his second term comes to an end. Never has an American president been so absorbed with the use and abuse of power, and unfortunately, he still has seven months to go. What is next?”
