Clinton Wins California Democratic Primary

Big Win in Delegate-Rich State

Hillary Clinton has won the Democratic primary in California. With 94 percent of the vote counted, the AP reports Clinton beat Senator Sanders 56% to 43.1%, and has awarded the presumptive nominee 257 delegates.

Clinton now has 2184 pledged delegates to Sen. Sanders 1804. With superdelegates, Clinton has 2755, to Sen. Sanders 1852.

2383 total delegates are needed to win the nomination.

Sec. Clinton Tuesday night also won New Jersey, New Mexico, and South Dakota. Sen. Sanders won Montana and North Dakota.

Despite the math, Sen. Sanders vowed late Tuesday night to take his fight to Washington, D.C., and to the Democratic convention. Today he will lay off at least half his staff, The New York Times reports.
