UPDATING: Hillary Clinton Reaches Threshold to Clinch Democratic Nomination: Reports

Published

Associated Press, NBC News Report Hillary Clinton Will Be the Democratic Nominee

The Associated Press at 8:20 PM EDT Monday reports that Hillary Clinton has gained the required number of delegates to become the Democratic nominee for President. MSNBC and NBC News also reported that Clinton has the required number of delegates.

At 8:50 PM EDT, Andrea Mitchell reported that the Clinton campaign was against the news of the delegates number being reached being reported before Tuesday’s primaries in six states.

“Hillary Clinton has commitments from the number of delegates needed to become the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee for president, and will be first woman to top the ticket of a major U.S. political party,” the AP reports.

“An Associated Press count of pledged delegates won in primaries and caucuses and a survey of party insiders known as superdelegates shows Clinton with the overall support of the required 2,383 delegates. Now the presumptive nominee, she will formally accept her party’s nomination in July at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.”

UPDATE I:
At 9:02 PM EDT, Clinton told supporters at a rally she is “going to fight hard for every ingle vote,” and asked the audience to ensure they vote tomorrow.

UPDATE II: 9:07 PM EDT –
Via the Sanders campaign:

“It is unfortunate that the media, in a rush to judgement, are ignoring the Democratic National Committee’s clear statement that it is wrong to count the votes of superdelegates before they actually vote at the convention this summer.

“Secretary Clinton does not have and will not have the requisite number of pledged delegates to secure the nomination. She will be dependent on superdelegates who do not vote until July 25 and who can change their minds between now and then. They include more than 400 superdelegates who endorsed Secretary Clinton 10 months before the first caucuses and primaries and long before any other candidate was in the race.

“Our job from now until the convention is to convince those superdelegates that Bernie is by far the strongest candidate against Donald Trump.”

‘The Terror Hotspots Were Trump Rallies’: Former WH Aide Stephen Miller Slammed After Attacking Biden on Twitter

Published

on

Stephen Miller, perhaps the most despised member of the Trump administration who is not the former president, apparently decided to test the waters of his personal Twitter account just hours after Joe Biden was sworn in to office as the 46th President.

It did not go well.

Today, @POTUS pledged to be a president for all Americans,” he tweeted about President Joe Biden. “It’s unclear how all Americans are served by opening travel from terror hot spots, proposing a giant amnesty, or halting the installation of security barriers along the Southwest border.”

He was immediately “ratioed,” Twitter slang for getting significantly more comments than retweets or likes.

Currently, his tweet has over 9000 comments, but just 1600 retweets and just 700 likes.

Miller, who has been characterized as a white nationalist and a white supremacist, is responsible for some of President Trump’s worst policies. Among them, separating children from their parents at the border to intentionally terrorize them into telling others from Central America to not attempt to enter the U.S.

He was also the architect of Trump’s Muslim ban.

Here are some of the responses.

Trump Orders Secret Service to Protect 14 Family Members in Rare Post-Presidency Demand – Taxpayers on the Hook

Published

on

The U.S. Secret Service will protect former President Donald Trump and more than a dozen members of his family, including extended family members, after the 45th President, defying usual agency regulations, ordered the expanded protections.

“Trump issued a directive to extend post-presidency Secret Service protection to 14 members of his family who were not automatically entitled to receive it,” The Washington Post reports.

Taxpayers will be on the hook for the millions of dollars the additional protections will cost, even after the Trump family decimated the protective agency’s budget over the past four to five years.

Once a president leaves office he or she, their spouse, and children up until they reach the age of 16 are entitled to Secret Service protection. Protection for the president and spouse is for the rest of their lives.

But Trump has demanded every family member who has ever been covered to continue receiving protection, for the next six months.

“That means the expensive, taxpayer-funded security will continue for his daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, their three children, his son Donald Trump Jr. and his five children, his son Eric Trump and his wife Lara and his daughter Tiffany Trump,” the Post explains.

In just the first two years of his presidency Trump and his family members who are protected by the Secret Service took more than 4500 trips.

Citizens for Ethics (CREW) on Wednesday noted that “the Trump family took more trips that required Secret Service protection in one year than the Obama family took in seven.”

‘For What?’: Defiant Lindsey Graham Insists He Has Nothing to Apologize for After Months of Election Lies

Published

“I’m not going to apologize for anything”

U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham insists he and the GOP have nothing to apologize for, and is lambasting Democrats who think they do. The South Carolina Republican who was now-former President Donald Trump’s top supporter, defender, and confidant in the Senate was asked if he thinks he should apologize now that the nation has a new president.

“For what?” the defiant Graham, who has held public office for nearly three decades, repeatedly asked CBS News’ Marge Brennan.

“Is there an apology for the broader misconception, the lies you talked about?” Brennan politely pressed, not spelling out that Graham for months spread lies about the 2020 election.

“I mean, do you all need to issue an apology for trying to destroy President Trump’s presidency from day one?” Graham, scoffing at the mere suggestion he had done anything wrong, replied.

“I don’t think so,” he added, suggesting again he had nothing to apologize for.

Graham said the “bottom line” is he “called the Secretary of State to find out how you could verify signatures,” something he, as a Senator from South Carolina, had no business doing.

“I’m not going to apologize for anything,” he continued, saying he wants to “look forward” and “heal the nation” by working on infrastructure and immigration.

“Starting this presidency with the idea that somebody needs to apologize probably doesn’t move us forward,” Graham said.

In reality, the Georgia official Senator Graham called tells a different, far more devious, and possibly criminal story.

Graham has been accused of trying to interfere in the Georgia election, after he called that state’s Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, who said he was “stunned” after receiving the call. He added he felt Graham was suggesting he “look hard and see how many ballots you could throw out.”

A former U.S. Attorney has asked the Georgia State Election Board to investigate, Forbes has reported.
