#HeterosexualPrideDay Is Trending on Twitter. Here’s the Guy Who Started It, and Here Are Some of the Best Responses.

The Anti-LGBT Bigots Came Out Today

People who hate minorities for years have been asking why there isn’t a Straight Pride Day, or a White History Month, because they don’t get that the world – or at least, America – was created around them. America for centuries has been dedicated to the advancement of straight white people, especially men. (For the record, I like straight people, white people, and straight white people, so don’t go there.)

But now that people of color and LGBT people and women are being recognized as equal and important parts of society, some feel their world slipping away. (Enter Donald Trump and his supporters.)

Today on Twitter the very manifestation of that “we want to take our country back” feeling exploded, thanks to this guy:

According to the website Who Said It First, @_JackNForTweets gets “credit” for creating #HeterosexualPrideDay, and right now it’s the number one trending item on Twitter.

In case you’re wondering if he did it as a joke, this should make his intentions clear:

Naturally, Twitter has responded, with some of the most glorious reasons why we don’t need #HeterosexualPrideDay, and why #HeterosexualPrideDay is so offensive and akin to saying, “All Lives Matter.” Of course they do, but that diminishes the importance and idea that Black Lives Matter.
