Halted: George Zimmerman’s Auction of Gun He Used to Kill Trayvon Martin Taken Down

Website Says Weapon ‘No Longer in the System’

The gun that George Zimmerman used to shoot 17-year old unarmed Trayvon Martin to death is no longer listed for auction at gunbroker.com. Calling it “an American Firearm Icon,” Zimmerman had posted the gun for auction Wednesday night, requiring an opening bid of $5000. The auction was to begin at 11 AM today and last 24 hours, but sometime around 11 AM EDT, the auction was taken down. It is unknown if Zimmerman himself pulled the gun from auction or if the website removed it.

A message on the page that listed the gun for auction now says, “Sorry, but the item you have requested is no longer in the system.”

A Google cache of the auction shows it had received over 200,000 views, and NCRM saw it break 300,000 this morning.

Here’s the original posting from Wednesday night:

In the listing he wrote, “I am proud to announce that a portion of the proceeds will be used to: fight BLM [apparently Black Lives Matter] violence against Law Enforcement officers, ensure the demise of [State Attorney] Angela Correy’s persecution career and Hillary Clinton’s anti-firearm rhetoric.”
