Republican Dan Forest Says DOJ Pushing ‘Radical Leftist Agenda’ Over HB2

North Carolina Lt. Governor Dan Forest, who also serves as head of the Senate, is one of the top Republicans behind HB2. He told The Daily Signal – the “news” site of the extreme right wing think tank The Heritage Foundation – on Wednesday that the Department of Justice is guilty of “extortion” for threatening to withhold federal funds if his state does not comply with federal policies. 

Forest also claims the DOJ is “holding children hostage,” and pushing a “radical leftist agenda” for wanting transgender people to be treated equally and with respect. He also, falsely, claims the DOJ’s actions are “unprecedented.” He concludes by saying, “There’s no discrimination going on in North Carolina.”
